North Liverpool: Crosby, Litherland and the Mosses
The northern Liverpool suburbs are in the foreground. Litherland (bottom centre) is divided from Crosby (left) and Thornton (centre) by Rimrose Valley Country Park. Behind is the flat country of the Mosses, the two wooded areas being the estates of Crosby and Ince Blundell Halls. To their left the coast indents at the estuary of the River Alt at Hightown, juts out again at Formby Point and disappears top right at Southport.
North Liverpool: Aintree, Maghull and the Mosses
This view is further to the south-east than the one above. The foreground is mainly Aintree, with the racecourse (famous for the Grand National, of course) bottom right. The built-up area on the extreme right above centre is Maghull. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal snakes its away across the centre of the view before turning north through Maghull.
North Liverpool: Crosdby and Seaforth
Here is the start of the Liverpool Bay shore at Crosby Marina, with Waterloo behind it, Seaforth with its container port to the right and Crosby to the left. The shore line reaches Hightown and the estuary of the River Alt on the extreme left.
Central Liverpool: Anfield and Everton
The main feature here for many will be the two football stadia, Anfield (for Liverpool FC) on the left and Goodison Park (for Everton FC) on the right, separated by Stanley Park and Cemetery. The waterfront buildings are just visible above the Anfield stadium on the river, where the Isle of Man Sea Cat is making a splash. Walton Hall Park is at the bottom right-hand corner.
Liverpool Waterfront
A great view of the Three Graces on the waterfront, with the town centre behind. To their right is the Albert Dock area and in the top right hand corner is Lime Street station, with St. George's Hall and the Museum area to its left. Much of the area centre right is being redeveloped as Liverpool One, due for completion in 2009.
Liverpool Waterfront
Another nice view of the waterfront, with the Three Graces at the bottom. The south docks are clearly laid out, from bottom to top: Canning and Canning Half-Tide, Salthouse and Albert, Wapping, Queen's, Coburg and Brunswick (the last two constituting Liverpool Marina).
South Liverpool: Toxteth
This area is predominantly Toxteth, with its waterfront stretching from the south docks to Otterspool. Below centre is Liverpool Anglican Cathedral with St. James's cemetery and the Georgian Quarter extending below and left.
South Liverpool: St. Michael's Hamlet and Fulwood Park
Fulwood Park, the first of Liverpool's 19th century upper middle class ghettos, is the leafy residential area to the right of centre. The top left part of the view is occupied by Sefton Park with the lake and palm house clearly visible. Part of the Mersey Way, connecting the Liverpool waterfront to Grassendale Park, runs alongside the river at the bottom of the picture.
South Liverpool: Grassendale and Cressington Parks
Grassendale Park is fronted by prominent white Victorian villas overlooking the river. Cressington Park is to the right and Otterspool to the left. The Pennine Hills lie along the horizon.
South Liverpool: Aigburth
A general view of the Aigburth area with Grassendale and Cressington Parks in the foreground.
South Liverpool: Garston
This is largely the dockland area of Garston. The residential area reaches out at the top.
