The
Irish Sea Coast from Hightown to the Fylde Hightown and the River Alt estuary are bottom right. Formby is the main built-up area below centre and the coast then curves round to Southport and the Ribble estuary. On the far side of the estuary are Lytham St. Anne's and finally Blackpool. |

The
Irish Sea Coast at Formby Upper left is Ainsdale with the nature reserve below on the coast. Formby itself is right of centre with the dunes and their hinterland in front. Behind are the low lying Mosses. Note the extraordinary trompe l'oeil effect behind Formby to the right: the field patterns fortuitously suggest a vast three-dimensional structure complete with shadow! |

Hale
Head A fine view over the river and deep into Cheshire. Hale Village is lower left and Hale Head (lighthouse just visible) is the kink in the river bank right of centre. Runcorn is over the river to the left and Frodsham to the right. |
