Photos, Facts, History and Links for Liverpool, Merseyside and the Wirral
What is merseySights?
This site contains hundreds of original photographs of Merseyside and adjacent areas, together with points of interest, local history, links to more comprehensive sites and last, but also least, my own incidental ruminations as a certified (or certifiable) merseyphile. Brand new is the inclusion of original historical writings that allow a fascinating glimpse into the past. The material is organised by geographical region. If you prefer, some of the material can be accessed by subject matter at merseyThemes.
If you want to see the sights for yourself, try merseyWalks for the best walks in the area or click a bootprint icon in merseySights to find a walk that goes with a picture. For the origins of place names, see merseyPlaceNames and don't miss the aerial photography in merseyFlights.
All of the information is correct as far as I am able tell. If you have spotted any errors, can contribute fresh information or just want to share your thoughts or memories, please let me know; anything used will be acknowledged. For contact details, see the allertonOak home page.
Regions
I have divided up the material geographically based upon the map below. Please follow the links on the right (the date of the latest update is given) or use the alphabetical place name search below.
