| What
is merseyWalks? |
| merseyWalks
describes the best walks in the extended
Merseyside area, the result of much scrutiny of
maps (more recently, of Google Earth) and wear
and tear on the poor old feet. The region offers
a fantastic variety of walking including fine
parks and suburban open spaces (Liverpool is one
of the greenest cities in the UK), the
attractively rural Wirral countryside, the
desolate expanses of the Mersey and Dee
estuaries, the Cheshire hills, the miles of
golden sand and quiet hinterland of the Irish Sea
coast and historic urban areas with magnificent
architecture. |
| The walks are
designed mainly for the enjoyment of the open air
but visit many places of interest as well. For
much more information and more pictures visit merseySights. merseyWalks is
integrated with the merseySights
database - if you click on the images you get a
pop-up window with a larger picture and
additional information. |
| The maps are to
scale with north at the top. Printer friendly
versions of the walk descriptions are available
through the links provided with each walk. |
|
| Most of the walks present no
difficulties, but may be slippery anywhere during
or after adverse weather and are undertaken
entirely at the walker's own risk; you might want
to check the weather forecast. Several of the
walks are in coastal areas; getting the best out
of these may require the presence or absence of
water, so you might also want to check the tide
predictions. |
